Spam is probably the single most annoying artifact of the Internet's many successes. If you have used email, then you have received spam. Both the amount of spam and the number of complaints about it have increased so much, were technology departments not to take action, our YCOE core email services would no longer be usable.

These instructions tell you how to configure your email program so that is shunts spam headed for your Inbox and moves it to your "Junk" folder instead.
Spam filtering is a complex and very tricky business. Legitimate email can be marked as spam while obvious spam may sometimes get through. Spammers will continue to refine and perfect their approach in order to avoid filtering. Currently, there is no spam filtering product on the market that can eliminate 100% of all spam. In fact, our success rates in the 70%-80% range, which is a bit above the averages that are being achieved by all products.
