FAMILY ACTIVITY:

After dinner sit in a circle, as a family discuss how it felt to arrive at an activity late and how that impacted others.
Your children learn about being on time from you, set a good example by leaving when you tell them you are going to, and arriving for appointments with them on time.
Teach your older children to call ahead if they are going to be late for an appointment.

CLASS ACTIVITY:

Hand out several minor assignments that are due at a specific time during the day and require students to hand in their assignments at that time to get them used to being punctual in turning in assignments after the long summer break.

HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITY:

Discuss the importance of punctuality in applying for a job or for college admissions.

CREATING A POSITIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT:

Teachers are leaders and must lead by example. Teachers must be on time to class or students will assume that tardiness is acceptable. When teachers promise to hand something out, or return an assignment by a certain date they must honor their commitment or over time students will assume that they have the same luxury.
