COURTEOUS: Polite behavior toward others

FAMILY ACTIVITY:

  • Parents can discuss with their children the importance of always being polite and courteous to others, including always saying the magic words "please" and "thank you."
  • Have your children write thank you notes to people who give them gifts or go out of their way to help them.

CLASS ACTIVITY:

  • Encourage students to be polite in the classroom by using the words, "please" and "thank you," and by being quiet when someone is speaking to the class.
  • Have students perform skits that depict a situation where people are polite.
  • Write thank you notes to members of the community who have donated time, money, or materials to your class.

HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITY:

  • Seniors should write personal thank you notes to everyone who has helped them with their senior projects.

  •  Just as you ask your students to be courteous toward you and each other, be courteous to them.
