FAMILY ACTIVITY:

  • Parents, please answer these questions with your child: I could be generous to my family by . I could be generous to my friends by .
  • Together with your children donate your time to help a good cause by working for a charity, church, or other activity that helps others.
  • Praise your children when they do something right and encourage them to praise each other.

CLASS ACTIVITY:

  • Encourage students to bring cupcakes or cookies on their birthdays to share with the class. This will give them the opportunity to see that giving brings rewards just as great as receiving.
  • Select a story from the newspaper about a generous person and write a short paper about that person and their generous deed.
  • Encourage students to praise other students without expecting anything in return.

HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITY:

  • While teachers are always willing to answer questions, they should also encourage students to go to other students with questions about assignment problems or research. Students should be encouraged to help each other at all times.
  • Select a politically neutral local charity and take a class collection to benefit that charity.
