FAMILY ACTIVITY:

• Parents can give examples of truthfulness in life such as returning what has been borrowed, returning money that has been found, keeping agreements and promises.
• Teach your children honesty by example. Make it a habit not to lie to them.
• Talk to your children about times when you want them to lie to protect themselves, like when a stranger calls and they are alone. Teach them the difference between that and lying to avoid punishment or to get another person in trouble.

CLASS ACTIVITY:

• Discuss why telling the truth is important. Also discuss times when it might be dangerous to tell the truth, like telling a stranger that your parents are not home.

HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITY:

• Discuss whether or not students feel they can believe what politicians, the news media, teachers, and other people in leadership positions tell them. If they don't, ask them why these people would lie to them?
