FAMILY ACTIVITY:

  • Discuss with your children how it feels to be treated unfairly and how to handle those feelings.
  • Talk to your children about racism and the evil it causes. Talk to them about dealing with people who are racist and encourage your children to formulate their own opinions. Ask your children if they have any questions about the other cultures in our community, help them to find accurate answers. The root of racism is ignorance, keep your children informed.

CLASS ACTIVITY:

  • Discuss the importance of fairness between friends. Discuss why fairness is important in every relationship.
  • Invite members of your community's religious and ethnic groups to share their unique history, culture, and values.

HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITY:

  • Discuss how fairly people are treated in this community and in the country as a whole. Can a democratic government exist without all citizens being treated fairly, why or why not?
  • Discuss our country's history of racism and the continued existence of racism. How can individuals help to eliminate racism in our community?
