FAMILY ACTIVITY:
- Parents can demonstrate good character by "keeping their
cool" in stressful situations such as in traffic jams. Patience
is difficult for everyone, but especially so for small children. Be
sure to reward your child when they are patient. A hug or a kind
word can go a long way in reinforcing positive behavior.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
- Give an assignment that requires students to do the work a little
bit at a time. Examples might include: observing the moon, writing
comments on newspaper stories, or reviewing short stories that are
handed out everyday for several days.
HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITY:
- America is the country that it is today because of the efforts of
generations of Americans who tried to make this a better country.
Select a major event in American history when a wrong was made
right, for example, the civil rights movement or women gaining the
right to vote. Write a short paper explaining why righting those
wrongs took so long to correct. What would the country be like if
those crusaders had given up because the wait was too long?
